Vile Bodies

It appears that today will be a quiet day—not much going on the world of arts and entertainment, though what is going on is well worth your time. LAist encourages everyone to get out of the house and enjoy the last waning days of summer as we creep toward Labor Day.

Tonight at the Egyptian Theatre, see Stephen Fry's new film Bright Young Things as part of the weekly Outfest screening at the Egyptian. Based on the novel Vile Bodies by Evelyn Waugh, the movie follows "a group of hedonistic, young, (mostly) affluent trendsetters bouncing from one stylish party to the next" in glitzy 1930s London. The cast includes Jim Broadbent, Peter O'Toole, Stockard Channing, Emily Mortimer and Dan Aykroyd; the screening begins at 7:30 PM.

Nearby, AFI at ArcLight presents the 1996 hit Fargo at 8:00 PM. The film stars Frances McDormand, Steve Buscemi and William H. Macy.
