ASIFA-Hollywood presents "A Fred Ladd Retrospective," hosted by Los Angeles-based film historian Jerry Beck. Plus, Fred Ladd will attend this rare one-of-a-kind retrospective!
Fred Ladd was one of the first to import anime to America in the 1960s—and was a personal friend to many of Japan's greatest animators.
Jerry Beck will host this retrospective of Fred Ladd's greatest hits, including full lenth screenings of rare 16mm prints of Astro Boy, Gigantor and Kimba the White Lion episodes; rare footage of unsold pilots; and excerpts from Fred's many animated endeavors,from The Big World of Little Adam to Pinocchio in Outer Space as well as his experiences making Journey Back to Oz, Sailor Moon and his controversial colorizing of classic cartoons. As a special bonus, organizers will screen Fred Ladd's personal print of his long lost TV classic The Space Explorers.
