Take It Off

We're counting down to the weekend here at LAist, and with just one more day to go we hope that you will all take our well-meaning advice and get out of the house tonight. It'll be fun, we promise.

Head for The Echo to see grrl rockers The Donnas with Communique and The Lashes at a pre-pre-Sunset Junction event. Doors open at 8:00 PM and tickets are $14.00.

At Spaceland, catch former Letters to Cleo lead singer Kay Hanley with Eric Gaffney (of Sebadoh) and The So and Sos. Doors are at 9:00 PM and tickets are $8.00.

In Hollywood at The Hotel Cafe, show up for the Trampoline Records Revue, featuring Jukebox Junkies, Minnie Driver (yes, that Minnie Driver), Michael Miller, Mavis, and WAZ.

In film, the ArcLight has a special midnight showing of Nicotina—from the producers of Amores Perros—a crime caper set in Mexico City about a simple exchange that goes awry. The screening begins at 12:05 AM.

Book Soup on Sunset has John Powers signing his new book, Sore Winners (And the Rest of Us) in George Bush’s America, where "no cultural stone is left unturned, from Hello Kitty to Hamid Karzai, as Powers guides us through the ideas, values and characters that have defined George W. Bush’s America." Powers is deputy editor of the "LA Weekly" as well as critic-at-large for NPR's "Fresh Air." The event begins at 7:30 PM.
