Naked Deviltry

The current show at sixspace has been getting a bit of press (BoingBoing mentioned it today), so LAist thought it was worth mentioning to our wonderful readers.

Entitled Parts With Appeal, the show is the first Los Angeles show of Coop's work in five years. "Coop came out to Los Angeles from Bixby, Oklahoma in the late 1980s and quickly became regarded as one of the preeminent underground artists of his time.

Through his prolific poster work (for bands such as Nirvana, the Ramones, and The Sex Pistols), his custom font stylings for House Industries, his sold out first-edition book Devil's Advocate and his popular sketchbook The Big Fat One, and his iconic devil girls, smoking devil, and cars, his work has been described as being 'now more recognizable to modern youth than that of Rembrandt.'"

Also noteworthy is the fact that the exhibit will be comprised of one 78-foot acrylic painting composed of four panels. If you're a fan of Coop, Von Dutch or Ed "Big Daddy" Roth, this is certainly an event you will enjoy.

The show will be up through September 18th.
