Not-So-Endless Summer

Time to get out and about, LAists! Though it doesn't feel like it yet, summer is slowly drawing to a close and we should best enjoy it while we can.

Tonight at Amoeba Music, catch a free in-store performance by LA's own pop sensation Rilo Kiley at 7:00 PM, celebrating the release of their new album More Adventurous.

At the Silverlake Lounge, see the local rock/pop band Wow! Cougar (Mellowdrone) with The Joy Circuit (Shiner/National Skyline) and Meho Plaza starting at 9:00 PM. Tickets are $7.00.

Over at the Egyptian Theatre, stop by the RES Magazine video screening featuring tons of shorts and rare music videos, plus a live A/V performance from TINO CORP (Ben Stokes and Meat Beat Manifesto's Jack Dangers), remixing the 15 "Art of Speed" Nike films, and DJ Jun of Amoeba Music.

At the Santa Monica Pier, catch one of two classic surfing films: Step Into the Liquid or Endless Summer. Free tickets can be picked up between 10:00 AM and 5:00 PM at any Santa Monica Visitors Center location.

If surfing isn't your style, head to LACMA at 1:00 PM to see The Sundowners, starring Robert Mitchum and Deborah Kerr.
