Footloose and Fancy Free

'Tis a slow night in town, dear LAists, but a good one nevertheless. If you enjoy classic films be sure to make it to the Egyptian Theatre tonight for a special treat from the early '60s.

Tonight at the Egyptian Theatre, see the 1960 film Sons and Lovers, director Jack Cardiff’s film adaptation of one of D.H. Lawrence’s most famous novels. The film received a slew of awards and nominations upon its original release and features former child star (and LA native) Dean Stockwell as "brilliant young Paul Morel in turn-of-the-century Britain, torn between his nurturing, yet controlling mother (Wendy Hiller) and his alcoholic coal miner dad (Trevor Howard), as well as two very different kinds of lovers (Heather Sears and Mary Ure)." The film begins at 7:30 PM; LAist recommends attending because this feature is not available on video!

At the Silverlake Lounge, see a free show featuring Telecast, Mere Mortals, Fielding and Household Words.

Nearby at The Echo see another free show, this one featuring Spindrift, Gram Rabbit, Silvery Moonlight and Prototokyo. The show begins at 8:30 PM. (21+)
