LAist breathed a sigh of relief this morning upon waking to face this most glorious Friday. And Friday the 13th, no less! In honor of the occasion, we're leading off with the most appropriate of events. Read on for details.
At the Egyptian Theatre, witness the awesome power of the Living Dead Double Header. The show begins at 9:15 PM and features George Romero's 1968 zombie classic Night of the Living Dead, followed by Gary Sherman's 1972 debut feature Death Line (aka Raw Meat). This is a great opportunity to see the ultimate zombie film on the big screen—and need LAist remind you that it is Friday the 13th?
At the ArcLight, meet screenwriter Larry Gross—writer of We Don't Live Here Anymore—after the film screens at 7:30 PM and 10:30 PM tonight, tomorrow and Sunday.
In music, head to The Echo where L Train will stop by again with DJ Paulie spinning dance punk, electroclash, indie and punk, and performances by Dance Disaster Movement, The Ashbury, The Golden Arm and Carmelized. Festivities begin at 8:30 PM; guests 21 and over get in free, while guests 18-21 pay $5.00.
In the Knitting Factory Main, see The Album Leaf with Tender Buttons and Roots of Orchis. Doors open at 7:30 PM; tickets are $8.00 advance and $10.00 at the door.
Over at Tangier, see Tracy Bonham and Blake Hazard at an early show. Things kick off at 8:00 PM and tickets are $10.00.
For an interesting, multi-disciplinary evening, check out 13 at Hanger 1018 downtown. Featuring films, performances and music by Janie Geiser, Lewis Klahr, Caterina Perazzi, Russell Crowley, Esther Austin, Juli Crocket, Ariel Pink, John Maus, and Sean Lewis—plus wine and spirits—the event runs from 9:00 PM–1:00 AM and admission is $7.00.
