Happy Tuesday, readers. A nice selection of events have presented themselves today, so get out there and have a good time!
At The Echo, Concerts for Victory presents John Doe, Kristin Hersh and Grant Lee Phillips, along with Blake Hazard and Bedroom Walls, in a concert to benefit John Kerry. Doors open at 7:30 PM and tickets are $15.00 pre-sale and $18.00 at the door. (18+)
You have a second chance to enjoy a trip back to the mid-90s with Hootie & the Blowfish at the Canyon Club in Agoura Hills. Tickets are $42.50 and $68.50, but you get to enjoy the best of what pop music of the last decade had to offer.
At Tangier, see the second of a three-night engagement featuring Jonathan Richman (yes, that Jonathan Richman) backed by former Naked Prey drummer Tommy Larkins, with Becky Stark. Tonight is the CD release party for Richman's new album, Not So Much To Be Loved As To Love. Tickets are $12.00 and doors open at 8:00 PM.
Tonight at the Egyptian Theatre see a special sneak preview of Incident at Loch Ness, a film-within-a-film documenting Scotland's Loch Ness Monster and starring famed director Werner Herzog. The show begins at 8:00 PM and, schedules permitting, will be followed by a discussion with director Zak Penn, Werner Herzog and producer Thomas Augsberger.
At the Beverly Hills Public Library, Princeton University professor at New York Times columnist Paul Krugman will be in discussion about his new book with Robert Scheer. The Great Unraveling assembles many of Krugman's NY Times columns focused on politically motivated lies and the future of democracy in America. This event begins at 7:00 PM and LAist suggests arriving early to get a good seat.

awesome, thanks for sharing what is happening locally with political grassroots stuff...too many people think since CA is a done deal we don't have to be involved. Besides giving money, there is tons to do.
