Yeeee-Haw!

Since the Ventura area is so close to LA, LAist thought this story was worth a go. The Dallas Cowboys, NFL powerhouse, are holding their training camp in sunny and mild Oxnard this year. Normally such an event would be cause for excitement as sports fans throng to Ventura County's largest city in anticipation of some big-time football action. In this case, it is adding some complexity to a city ordinance.

As reported by blogging.la, the Cowboys distinctive blue star logo has been banned in the heart of the city because of its long-standing association with a local gang. This could spell trouble for logo-sporting fans, but "city officials, however, have reassured anxious Cowboys fans that only gang members are disallowed from wearing the symbol."

What LAist wants to know is how the officials will be distinguishing between fans and gang members. Are they working from a roster of known gang affiliates, or are they just guessing and hoping they don't hassle the wrong group?
