It must be the holiday that kicked this week off to a slow start, but LAist predicts many, many diversions to come before Sunday winds down. However, since it is only Tuesday you'll have to enjoy today's entertainment before the weekend is unleashed.

AFI at ArcLight presents an installment in the 3rd annual Music Documentary Series tonight at 8:00 PM. This week's film is the rockumentary Metallica: Some Kind of Monster, detailing the tension-fraught innerworkings of one of rock's biggest acts while also recording James Hetfield's struggle with alcoholism. The film opens in theaters on July 9th.

MUSIC
Auf der Maur, the new rock outfit fronted by former Hole bassist Melissa Auf der Maur, will perform for free during a 7:00 PM in-store appearance at Amoeba Music. LAist recommends arriving early, as the crowds can become rather large very quickly.

The Troubadour features local rockers The Bronx (go figure) with The Catheters and Hell Is For Heroes at 7:30 PM. Tickets are $10.00 in advance.
